Wow, moving to wordpress did make this page rather static :) guess you can only have one webpage at any one time! It's nearing my rotation period, currently hunting for a job in the public sector of the government (intro me if you can!). Landlord sold the house so I'll also be moving (tell me if you know of a 5 room flat for 4 person to stay!)
2007.06.11 - 11.00 PM
It's Chinese New Year again. Wow, time flies. All the best wishes to you in year 2007. I've launched a separate site (too sentimental about this one) that incorporates Wordpress as the blogging engine. I syndicate it here too as a summary, but more and more of the fresher content will come from there. So do visit: http://wp.jiinjoo.com

TaDa - I've moved xanga into my homepage, hopefully this gives more people to come visit here. Planning to expand more blogs and more content. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

I have finally got a phone (look to your left) - now you can call me till your hearts content. It has been a month since I started working in SCS. Trying very hard to be content with life for now, will see what happens. Happy fasting to the muslims!
2005.10.08 - 02.35 AM
Constantly moving on is really tiring. Looking forward to September where I'll again be in a foreign land (Singapore) because of a promise that was made 5 years ago. I will not forget the lessons I learned in Amazon.com, which is the same lesson I learn everywhere: to love deeply, and to give generously, is the greatest happiness of all.

Like a sunset dying with the rising of the moon, Gone Too Soon
Let’s continue to miss MJ. Like a comet Blazing ‘cross the evening sky Gone too soon Like a rainbow Fading in the twinkling of an eye Gone too soon Shiny and sparkly And splendidly bright Here one day Gone one night Like the loss of sunlight On a cloudy afternoon Gone too soon Like a castle Built upon a sandy beach Gone too soon Like a perfect flower That [...]

Life Goes On
The ability of iPhone to do Internet Tethering is awesome, and was finally put to good use this morning when I started writing this while stuck in Ubi Kah Motor waiting for my car to get oiled nicely. They did put down Internet kiosks around, but by forcing you to stand to use it isn’t [...]

How to argue effectively - like a child!
Well, if you’re this Jay’s children, that is. Jay shared about How to Teach a Child to Argue, which ironically applies very well even in adult situation. How to Teach a Child to Argue Why would any sane parent teach his kids to talk back? Because, this father found, it actually increased family harmony. By Jay Heinrichs … Why [...]

The Soldier?s Tale - Histoire Du Soldat (12/7 7:30 Esplanade)
TPO is playing Chamber Music again - but this time, it’s 1 each of violin, double bass, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone and percussion, just 7 people accompanying a narrator, the Soldier and the Devil. If you haven’t read the story before, try Wikipedia’s entry for The Soldier’s Tale for a start, or just forget it [...]

Name the bigger number: 83! A tale of exponentials
Ever wanted a taste of the things Computer Scientist thinks about? This essay was so well written I actually read it twice. All you need is high school math to appreciate most of it. Read Who Can Name the Bigger Number by Scott Aaronson (Asst. Prof, EECS, MIT) In an old joke, two noblemen vie to name [...]

CFA or CFM (Can Find Money)?
Reflecting on an article Yoke Yong sent earlier to me on how CFA is now chic again in a recession. So what if 128600, took the exam, and approximately some 40% x 40% x 40% (3 levels) i.e. 8230 new CFAs enter the market every year? A professional certification is just that - a prove of [...]
